Roundup of the term
We are in the process of reviewing and changing our newsletter format. We'd like to be able to continue to share with you pictures and information about all of the wonderful things going on in classes. We'd also like to be able to update you on projects we're working on in school, share news of any visitors we've had in working with us and keep you up to date about upcoming plans. At the moment, we just don't have enough space on the newsletter to squeeze all of this in! We're planning to share information with you through our roundup emails, linking to blog posts on the website about things happening in school- we can share lots more pictures this way!
We have had a very busy and exciting two weeks at school, with so much to celebrate! We've had a fantastic Pirate Day, the year 6 Lifeskills trip, our Spring concert and the Easter Service!
Pirate day
Last week, Mrs Tiller organised an exciting Pirate Day for Apple class. They loved dressing up as pirates. Felix said, "We made wrinkly old pirate maps. We ripped bits all around the edge and covered in it bits of tea and crumbly coffee granules to make it look like mud on it." Piper said, "We played pirates in the pirate ship." Alice Tait, the author, also came in and read the children her story called, "No Nancy No!" Lissie said, "It was a fun and exciting day."
Lifeskills
Mrs Coleman took Year 6 to Lifeskills in Bristol on Tuesday. Here, they learnt lots about keeping themselves safe in a variety of situations. Rupert said, "It was very interesting, realistic and it did teach me a few things like some phone numbers I didn't know!" Bobbie said, "I thought it was really helpful for learning about what to do in different situations."
Spring concert:
Click here for pictures and information about our Spring concert. The children impressed me so much with their kindness towards one another, their courage and perseverance. Perseverance has been our value for this term; we certainly saw it in action on Tuesday!
Easter service:
Click here to see pictures of our Easter Service at Woolley Church. We were so lucky with the weather - what a lovely way to end the term.
Apple Class
Today in Celebration Assembly, we have said thank you to Mrs Tiller who has been teaching Apple Class. We are excited to welcome Miss Woodford to Swainswick, who will be starting after the Easter break. Miss Woodford will be holding a 'meet the teacher' gathering after school one day in the first couple of weeks back. We will confirm the date for this after Easter.

Dates for your diary:
Please remember that Monday 21st April is Easter Monday and school is closed on this day. We will look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 22nd April.
Thursday 24th April: class and individual photographs during the school day
Monday 28th April: we will be welcoming the Essential Safeguarding Company, who will be running workshops for staff during the day and a parent workshop in the evening from 3pm-7pm. This will be a drop in workshop - more information to follow next term.
We hope you have a relaxing Easter break, and look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 22nd April,
Best wishes,
Mrs Simmons
