St Mary the Virgin
St Mary’s church nestles close to the school and we are good neighbours to each other.
The congregation appreciates the close proximity of the school and tries to support it in any way it can. The school banner stands by the altar acting as a constant reminder of the children of our community.
The whole school – and the parents – come to the church every term to celebrate Harvest, Christmas, Easter and the Leavers Service at the end of the school year. A weekly visit from the vicar to take assemblies, Cafe Swainswick and simply sharing the same plot of land means that our lives are really lived alongside each other. When the school comes into the vicarage garden for sports day etc , or investigates the wild life in the conservation garden in the churchyard it is a natural overflow of our every day life.
Three members of the church are on the governing body providing support to the school and acting as living links in the chain of our relationship.
